Structure
Your spine protects the nervous system that runs everything: movement, healing, sensation, organ function. Gentle chiropractic care keeps those signals clear.

Chiropractic + Functional Medicine · San Rafael & Santa Fe
Most medicine waits for disease, then manages it. Dr. Patricia Sheppard works upstream — using functional medicine, applied kinesiology, and precise chiropractic care to find what's eroding your flexibility, energy, and resilience, and correct it before it ever becomes a diagnosis.

Meet Dr. Sheppard
Dr. Patricia Sheppard has spent more than three decades helping people heal without drugs or surgery. A graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic West with advanced training in neurology, applied kinesiology, and functional medicine, she treats the body as one system — structural and biochemical — and finds answers other providers miss.
The Philosophy
Most healthcare waits for something to break, then manages the damage. We work the other way around. Your spine, your nervous system, and your biochemistry are one connected system — and when all three are supported, you don't just feel better today. You function better for decades. That's what preventive care really buys you: a longer healthspan, not just a longer lifespan.
Your spine protects the nervous system that runs everything: movement, healing, sensation, organ function. Gentle chiropractic care keeps those signals clear.
Your cells run on what you feed them. Targeted, professional-grade nutrition gives your biology what it needs to repair, detoxify, and thrive.
Movement, sleep, stress, and periodic detoxification shape how well your body rebuilds itself. Small habits, compounded over years, are the real medicine.
Functional Medicine
Functional medicine is patient-centered, science-based care that finds and treats the root causes of chronic illness instead of managing symptoms. It looks at the whole person — how your genetics, environment, and lifestyle interact across the body’s interconnected systems. It’s the core of how Dr. Sheppard practices.
We ask why a condition is present — not just what to name it. Naming a disease manages it; finding its cause can resolve it.
Your gut, immune, hormonal, and nervous systems aren’t separate departments. They’re one integrated network, and we treat them that way.
Your plan is built from your history, your labs, and your genetics — never from a template.
Food as medicine, targeted supplements, advanced lab testing, and evidence-based lifestyle change — working alongside conventional care whenever it’s needed.

Conventional medicine asks "what disease is this, and which drug matches it?" Functional medicine asks "why is this happening — and what does this body need to heal?" We use testing, nutrition, and lifestyle changes to address root causes.
We see patients in San Rafael (Marin County, CA) and Santa Fe, NM. Both offices: (415) 332-0621.
